The Red Barn

The Red Barn, aptly named because we started in the adorable little red barn, opened in 2012 with just a horse, a barn, and a dream inspired by the vision of Anita Cowart to teach low-income children with disabilities to ride horses.

No one could have guessed that there were so many children who needed horses and couldn’t work with them ANYWHERE else without a long wait! What started as a tiny family-run operation with one student quickly blossomed into a full-blown nonprofit, serving 100 kids a week with over 100 children on the waiting list.

Through the generosity of donors, low-income children with disabilities are able to come to the barn each week to ride horses, just like Mrs. Cowart envisioned all those years ago.
